Thornaments were golden necklaces of thorns that were weaved through the skin of someone's neck, taking away their ability to speak. These were invented and used by Queen Eagala on Warbler to keep her people quiet and avoid rebellion.
Sky, Crow, Lani, Samheed, Copper, and Meghan received these Thornaments. They also received eye drops to make their eyes orange to show they belong to Warbler.
Appearance[]
The thornaments has spikes in the inside and outside. The choker part is metal and the spikes are gold. It is painful and the victim is rendered unable to speak.
Use in the books[]
Island of Silence[]
When Sky and Crow wash ashore on there raft, Artiméans find they were the painful choker around their neck.
Lani, Meghan and Samheed had the choker applied when they went on an “adventure”. Meghan escaped without the eye drops but still had the thornament when Alex saved her.
Island of Fire[]
Sky, Crow and Meghan get their Thornaments taken off and start planning to rescue Lani and Samheed from Warbler.
When the rescue is complete, their Thornaments were taken off using the dissapate spell.
Island of Legends[]
When rescuing Sky and Crow’s Mother, Copper, she has the choker, too. Hers is also removed using the dissapate spell.
