SPOILER WARNING!

The Mansion is the main structure in Artimé. It is the primary residence of all Artiméans.

Locations/Appearance

The mansion is an enormous, sprawling fieldstone mansion. Inside, there are paintings all around, and music seems to be constantly playing. There are multiple rooms and hallways, all designed to be just wide enough to fit Simber in them.[1]

First Floor

  • The foyer/entryway, where the stairs, main tubes (three of them[2]), Simber, and Florence are stationed. The floors here are black-and-white checkered marble, with chandeliers and an elaborate ceiling high above.[3][4] There are two heavy marble pedestals where Simber and Florence usually stand.[3]
  • Classrooms.
  • A large kitchen, pantry, and dining room with a bar. The kitchen has a tube that can be used to send food to any room in the mansion.[5][6] The dining room is just past the tubes.[2]
  • By the kitchen is the back door of the mansion.[7]
  • The hospital wing, just before the tubes; not always present, but can be added with the spell "Extend and heal, size [size]." The size can also be changed once the hospital wing is present.

Second Floor

  • Various living hallways, including the family hallway, a hallway for other adults, boys' and girls' hallways (the genders are removed from them after Dragon Fury), and a hallway just for magical creatures.[8] In Island of Silence, there is a new hallway just for new Necessaries.[9] These hallways do have to be manually extended.[10]
  • The not-so-secret hallway.

Tubes

Many rooms are also accessible by the main tubes. Unfortunately, no one knows how the tubes work[11], including the books themselves. In the first book, these locations are accessible by the tubes in rooms[12]; in Dragon Fire, these locations can only deliver people back to the main tubes in the entryway[13], and are implied to not be accessible from individual rooms, either. These rooms don't physically exist, and cannot be accessed or seen from the outside.[14]

  • The lounge.
  • The Library of Magical Art[15], which is three floors.
  • The theater.
  • Some classrooms.[16]
