SPOILER WARNING!
This article contains heavy discussion of plot details of the original Unwanteds books. You are at risk of major spoilers if you haven't read up to Island of Dragons. Be careful!

The Island of Dragons is the first island to the east of Artimé. From west to east, it is the fifth island in the Seven Islands. It is where Pan's children lived.

Locations/Appearance

The island is a hundreds of feet tall[1], jutting cylinder of rock that may look unconquerable[2], but is actually hollow inside. It's made of a light brown rock, with waves of muted orange swirling through it, without any particular pattern.[1] It has vegetation on the top, where the rock forms a spikey crown.[3] It seems impossible for humans to climb, but Pan has no problems.

Inside, water reaches up about two thirds of the way into the island, with several large rocks poking out.[4]

Despite its harsh appearance, Dragon Fire says that it has easy access to food and freshwater.[5]

Inhabitants

Pan keeps her children here throughout the first series to keep them safe from pirates. They return and live here in Quests, but Drock does not return at the end of the series.
